Future Goals
It seems as though each time I accomplish one of my goals, I develop three more in the process. I have many goals. In fact, I had a great deal of difficulty in narrowing down my goals into the three goals I am most eager to achieve.
Improve Skills in Media Editing & Web Design
My school currently has a website hosted by a company, which makes it very difficult to customize and their platform is not adaptable to the school's current and future needs. Once the school’s budget is more secure, we will be looking to change to a different company that manages the site. When I improve my skills in Gimp and Adobe Photoshop, I will be able to customize images for my own classroom website, the school’s website, and produce school event flyers with a more professional appearance. If I further deepen my skills in this area and learn how to use Adobe DreamWeaver, there will perhaps be no need to have an outside company to host our website. If I continue to learn coding languages like HTML5 and CSS, I will also be able to customize my own class website in a more efficient way. I would one day like to know enough to become a webmaster or web designer for schools and/or companies.
While I am confident I can learn Gimp and the Adobe Suite independently, I strongly feel that my skills would be greatly improved if I enrolled in a class or two during the summers. I plan on taking at least one class next summer, so that I can work to advance my abilities in media editing and web design.

Become a Google Certified Teacher
Next year I intend on applying to the Google Teacher Academy, as the first step toward becoming a Google Certified Teacher. Attending this two-day training session, learning about the valuable tools Google offers, and furthering my development after the training session will be an invaluable experience for me. In addition, this opportunity would continue to deepen my professional development in technology, because I would be able to keep in contact with other Google Certified Teachers. By having access to these resources, my skills will be strengthened by engaging in conversations that deepen my understanding of the Google tools I am already knowledgeable in, and be introduced to new, cutting-edge tools released by Google.
By becoming a Google Certified Teacher, I will be better equipped to train the faculty at my school, and also will be able to branch out further into perhaps becoming a Google Certified Trainer and train other professionals in the region.

Common Core ELA Skills within the Content Area
Although I have already received training on many of the ELA Common Core standards and its accompanying strategies, I feel that this is such a large area that it is something I am in need of continued development. To improve upon this area, I intend to work closely with the English teacher and Reading Specialist at my school to develop high-quality informational text assignments and activities. By improving my skills in this area, I will be helping my students to better comprehend the readings I assign; this will contribute to a higher rate of college-readiness among my students.
